Hi everyone,
we have indeed noticed this behavior and we are currently fixing it. Fix should be part of a future software update scheduled for Jully 2012.
Was there an update in July this year?
Hey all,
I have a drone with the latest software and firmware. I have noticed that my drone struggles to turn clockwise but turns counterclockwise with no issues. I did a reset with battery removal checked props amd shafts all seem fine. Any ideas?
Ummm... sorry for being argumentative but... yeah... bricking is the term for irreversable death of said device... then in the aftermath the user realizes "I almost bricked my drone... turns out it was just just frozen untill I reset, rebooted and reinstalled firmware without the usb installed"
Just sayin... I hang around with android tech geeks and they're always bangin on me about proper use of the term... it helps them help me when I use the proper terminology...
Ok trolls I'll bite whats next grading grammar.
"However, another use of the term "bricked" is understood to describe a situation where a device is unable to function even when the device does have potential to be recovered later to a working state. In this sense, the damage may be reversible; it is only during the period that it's unable to function that the device is deemed "bricked".
imike wrote:ok follow up. Yes it will Brick the drone but.. If you do a reset then remove battery and then reinstall firmware it seems to work again. So all is not lost.
Then it's not truly Bricking the drone, if it's easily recovered?
Um yes the drone is bricked until you do the following
1. Unplug battery
2. Reset firmware by using button on drone
3. Reboot drone
4. Reapply update
5. Reboot drone
The term brick does not always mean damage is irreversible.
Happy flying
ok follow up. Yes it will Brick the drone but.. If you do a reset then remove battery and then reinstall firmware it seems to work again. So all is not lost.
Parrot dang it. Why put a message saying you need to remove the key then you hit ok and update starts! usually you say message with CLICK OK WHEN USB REMOVED! come on !
Planning on updating a testing after work tonight.
Try this suggestion from a sticky. When starting the ar drone wait for a couple seconds while the drone hovers before attempting control. Also try and keep iPad flat when you first take control.

Here's an example of mine doing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ga9P91T1nA
Maybe it's the firmware? All the other threads seem to point to the blades being off by it's a brand new drone. How hot are the motors supposed to be. I can touch them for about 5 seconds after a long flight.
looks like prop wash causing the drop.
Hope it helps
No problem just a heads up. Those french to english translations get a little funny sometimes.
I tried renaming the .tmpvid to .mp4 and it didn't work. I really wish I had this video, too, because the drone fell from 60 ft for no apparent reason. I'd like to see if there were any clues on the video.
Check your iPad or iPhone photos to see if the video is there. I had that happen to me.
I had the same issue. If you change the temp tmpvide file extension to .mp4 it might play. Also I noticed that even though I had USB drive in and software was set to record to USB it still recorded to iPad . Found them in iPad photos. Also the issue is intermittent sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
Hey all,
I left the ar drone 2.0 on defaults then removed the altitude limits and took this drone as high as it would go. The wind was really pushing it around. There is a 60 foot windmill in the video for reference. I am thinking about doing a wifi hack with an apple airport express. Just want to make sure I can get the Drone back to defaults in case I have an issue.
This is the message that's displayed when you sign up for the ar drone academy- try redirected or all your base r belong to us.
Hi Guys,
I understand that a lot of flyers are modding your AR Drone to make improvements to range and looks but I just need to say that Parrot do not recommend to modify your AR Drone in this way and doing so would invalidate your warranty.
Will parrot please release an official RF mod! Offical light mod would be nice too.
Try this. set drone camera on flat surface with camera facing away from you. Before lift off select flat trim. Select absolute control. with iPad or iPhone held flat lift off DO NOT TOUCH CONTROLS. Go to preferences with iPad or iPhone close to level selected calibrate. drone should spin once. Then go back to to controls and fly. Again it seem to be important to let the drone lift off and hover for a couple of seconds before touching controls and if you flying absolute keep iPad or iPhone flat when first touching controls.
Hope that helps.
NONE that I can tell. DO NOT UPDATE. There is post from parrot here that states parrot is aware of the issues and will update in July.
Hi,
once AR.Drone 2.0 is turned on, it will flight and spin once to check calibration. This action allows for the AR.Drone 2.0 to check its current position and to adapt its flight to its environment. If your AR.Drone 2.0 is spinning more than once or is drifting and flying awkwardly, it could imply calibration went wrong. In such cases, just put the AR.Drone 2.0 on an uneven surface to help him "catch" its position.
So I need to land and place the drone on UNEVEN surface. Do I then hit "flat trim" while on uneven surface then recalibrate?
I found my magnet missing from my indoor hull. I found it stuck to my outdoor hull magnet.
Hope it helps ![]()
Battery draw on lights short something out?
I believe the crashing is being caused by wifi interference. I have a drone with latest update that stops flying after commands. This error only occurs for me when flying I areas with other wifi signals. I did have the error happen once in area with no other wifi at that time I had a low battery. Also the error seems to occur more when I am using an iPhone 4 compared to the iPad.
Hope this helps
I have the jeweler kit and used it to replace the circlip it was not easy though. Tried circlip pliers from hardware FAIL. Going to try the tire valve core tool. While I wait "5" days for the Ar drone tool to ship. Still loving the drone!
I ordered the parrot mounting tool from expanses about 3 weeks ago. I keep getting the message stating part usually ships in 5 days. When you try and call eXpansys you will be on hold for average of 30 mins.
Not good. Not good.
any another tools or sources to order parts from?
