Topic: PC Controller

Are there any plans to make controller/viewer software for a PC soon so I can take this out with my laptop and a joypad?

Re: PC Controller

Hi!

A couple people created a .net framework for programming the drone. It included a little demo control program that can use any controller that works with DirectX (basically if it works with any PC game) to fly it, including the keyboard and wiimote! However you have to compile it yourself. I've compiled it and just for you guys, have uploaded it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?slk2ub359zzc11b

Please note this is built for a version newer than windows xp (e.g. Windows Vista +) and shouldn't work on xp unless I change one execution variable. If you need it for XP please ask me.

Please check out my website http://kidovate.com/ as I will be posting a  lot of ARDrone related things now that I have my drone.

There are PC apps for Win32 and Linux.

Re: PC Controller

Thank you so much kidovate... I downloaded and installed so many microsoft crap to try and use the SDK for something, but I ended up no-where... Thank you so much for compiling this... I will try this tomorrow smile

I'll post feedback afterwards.

Re: PC Controller

Sure. Be careful about going out of range though.

Re: PC Controller

Well, it worked nicely, although all the chairs and mini tables where constantly making the sensors go crazy and it went up to the ceiling a couple of times...
Anyways, with the Win32 client there seems to be some problems... But it works anyways...
But with the compiled version you distributed on mediafire, it doesn't work... It keeps telling me that a DLL is missing... "ARDroneDLL.dll"...
So yea...where is it? ^^"

Re: PC Controller

Ha! Didn't think of that. I'll experiment with what the directory system has to be. Then I'll zip it and upload. Coming soon wink

Re: PC Controller

I found the folder missing smile (with a new download, from other place)
I got 2 new softwares that might work ^^
I'll try and test them still today, in a few hours...

EDIT:
Alright this UI one is great since I can use my gamepad with it...
Bad news is that it just says "Idling..." and it doesn't connect to the AR Drone...

Same here.
I found a software, that worked semi nicely, through a DOS window... I could see the camera, but nothing else... As for commands, I saw it somewhere on the foorum, but can't remember it anymore...

Re: PC Controller

Why doesn't parrot bring out a PC version of their software. The PC user base is so much larger than the apple user base. It seems they are limiting themselves. I'd have bought this on release if there was a PC client. It's still the only thing preventing me (and other friends of mine) from buying one, we don't do apple.

In fact most radio control enthusiasts I know are PC guys - notice that Realflight and Phoenix, the 2 major RC flight sims are Windows-only. There's a reason for that. Seems a shame, Parrot could really expand their user base by making a windows client, and they have brought out an SDK, why not just finish the job and put out an officially supported client.
