Topic: Bottom Plastic Cover

Well it did not take long to crash my AR Drone.  I flew it to high and it got away from me the crashed on the neighbors roof and landed in their pool.  I've ordered the online tool kit and I'm waiting for AR Drone to dry out (neat trick is to use rice in a bag with your wet electronics).

Where can I order the bottom plastic cover?  In the crash it got busted up pretty good.  I've looked on the support web site, but I don't see it.  The bottom plastic is where the vertical camera and navigation board ultrasonic sensors show through.

Thanks,
Richard

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

Looks like they sell it with the central cross and not by itself. http://www.parrotshopping.com/uk/p_parr … x?i=231061

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

I may have one MAY (My ar drone may be toast read Ar dorne 1.0) wink

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

Find a suitable bit of packaging and/or a cheap plastic glazed photo frame and use the original as a pattern to cut out a new one.

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

The plastic cover sheets come with a number of spare-part selections including the body, system board kit and the navigation board kit. Sadly, Parrot has not made the cover available by itself. But the cover is lousy anyway. You are better off making your own out of any nice, tough plastic sheeting. If you want to get expensive, make one out of carbon-fiber sheet. Very tough. big_smile My ar.drone malfunctioned this morning and ended up landing high up in a tree behind my house. Upside-down. In the mere 10 minutes that it took me to get a 30' ladder and get it back down, the hot sun caused the cover to start to shrivel up like a shrinky-dink. It has shrunk and no longer fits the bottom precisely. LOL! I sent a complaining e-mail to Parrot, but I am going to make my own new cover. One that is easily removable and replaceable.

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

I've made a replacement for mine from a food tub lid. Stick the original to it with its own tape and cut round it in a series of scores with a sharp craft knife or scalpel. Use a hole punch for the camera hole and a compass cutter for the ultrasonic holes. Mine is now dishwasher and microwave safe!

Re: Bottom Plastic Cover

Ok i have made a replacement part for the bottom plate or plastic cover.
I did this one with carbon fiber vinyl but could do it with any color you want.
It is mad of a light weight and durable plastic with a vinyl cover.
