Topic: Minikit round knob won't select menu options

If you press knob and turn and can't hear menu options then the connection of the knob to the circuit board has probably fractured. Small car owners beware .... banging your forehead on the Minikit knob will eventually do this ...position out of reach. If your Minikit is out of warranty and you can't send it in for repair and you have skills in fiddly electronic DIY you can open Minikit thus: Pull and slide off retaining clip, remove 2 retaining screws with suitable screwdriver and lift off knob surround collar..... remove two rubber feet at other end and scrape away wax/plastic covering.... remove screws. P.S. Your Warranty is now null and void! Gently open and lay on table-avoid severing fine speaker connector wiring. Inspect mounting of knob component - ignore double entendres- look for fractures of the metal connectors to the motherboard and resolder. Take care not to damage wiring connections to mini microphone by mount. Test whilst open carefully!-don't short out circuitry- turn on device, press button and listen to restored menu options... voila .... enjoy!

Re: Minikit round knob won't select menu options

Hi there
I too have a Minikit that's no responding and with a little encouragement (Leaning gently to right hand corner whilst depressing control knob). After extensive emails to Parrot UK - no joy :-(

I have a good ground / experience in electronics - so when the push came to a shove I opened it to discover that the control knob / switch has five pins and the front two have sheared!

The switch appears to have never been assembled correctly as it sits some two mm's above the PCB so all the strain has had to be endured on the thin metal pins.

No the best design to have all the forces placed through the legs of the component.

Anybody had any similar experiences with this component?

Anybody been able to source this component so that it can be replaced? Technical help cant offer any advice other than to state the obvious - out of warranty - cant help.

Anyone that has any better ideas to solve this one -please drop us an email.
