Itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration?

I recenty updated itunes and I got this message "itunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration". Now the sound does not work at all on my computer. I looked on the itunes official site and went through the instructions by uninstalling and intalling quick time but that did not work.
Any other suggestions?
