Topic: Got my Astroid, however the lights keep flashing and can't get power..

As stated, I have it connected and all the lights flash continuously (all the buttons on the faceplate) about twice per second... can't get it to do anything.  I have unplugged it, did a reset, and still only the lights flash.  Any ideas?  Can't find anything in the trouble shooting section.

Hi Unionturf,

we have already witnessed and fixed a similar issue with another customer. It was coming from the way the Parrot was installed and wired to the car.
In your situation, you only the Yellow wire should be directly connected to the car battery (permanent 12v) while the Red Wire should be connected to temporary 12v.

Could you check it?

I'm putting this on a motorcycle and wiring directly to the battery (not switched)....what is/would be a "temp 12v"?

If I wire the yellow without the red being connected to the Asteroid it does nothing.

It would be nice if a wiring diagram was shown somewhere so I would know what's what...which wires are what speaker wires etc...is it in the manual and I'm missing it?

the temporary 12V is a wire providing 12V only after ignition.

You can find a wiring diagram detailing all wires on a black sticker located on the top of the Parrot ASTEROID unit, under the casing.

Is there a way to do this without wiring to the ignition switch?  I'm rebuilding a motorcycle and I'm wanting to test the unit and functions in the process while I finish the build.  Is there a way to power the unit to a 12v battery without an ignition switch (standalone for now)...I have the radio, battery, and speakers in my living room.

Unfortunatly no. Wiring the Parrot ASTEROID to the ignition switch allow for our device to stop nicely and to save its settings.

Unit must have been bad, Crutchfield swapped it out and the new unit works fine...just want to get a way to connect it to the internet with wifi or tether, looking forward to the update.

Is the new unit the same hardware number? 001? I'm also having some issues, and am about to start the process of sending it back to Crutchfield..
