Topic: [RESOLVED] Just purchased, wont boot

Hi, I just installed my new Asteroid, and am really excited to get it up and running, but it just hasn't happened yet.. Everything is wired up correctly and I got the system to boot once when I turned the car on. I turned it to accessory and it was still on and said welcome and got to a screen where it asked if I wanted to search for stations. I reached out to hit yes and it turned off. Now when I turn it to accessory, the white lights come on for about a second, then off. Then when I turn the car on, it does the same thing. I tried with the yellow and red wires matched and swapped, and it does the same thing, except when they are matched and I turn the car on, nothing happens. I tried pressing the reset button and trying again, but nothing different. I also plugged in a USB to see if it was coming on, and the light on it flashes 3 separate times then stops, like it would when plugged into a PC and then not used, but still same thing is happening on the face of the radio. Can someone help me with this? I have been scratching my head and pulling my hair out over this for hours! sad

Re: [RESOLVED] Just purchased, wont boot

Just started it back up and let it sit there for a really long time while the car was running. I also tried starting it by holding various button combos, be cause I performed the update where you hold the talk button and the parrot button at the same time when turning on the radio and everything started up fine, (booted into the update manager and found the update on my usb and performed the update successfully.) then it said it would reboot, and turned off but not back on for a boot. That was last night, and I gave up.
Today I tried to play with it and pressing various button combos to see if there were other things that would start up/reset. I held the talk button and the source button while turning on and it booted to say parrot, then I let go and the radio went off again. I tried it again, and it got all the way to the would you like to auto scan thing again, and flickered on and off. I was able to select no, and it went to the radio screen, then turned off again. I haven't been able to get it to start up again since, just the same old white lights come on when going to on position on ignition, and when starting. The unit is on it seems in the background, but not displaying constantly for some reason. The behavior made me think my battery was dead/on the low side, so I checked the voltages, and I have 14v while the car is running, on both the ignition and constant (red, yellow) wires. I'm really at a loss here. Please help!

Btw, whats the lowest voltage that can be run to this radio? How far under 12V, if at all? If my bass hits hard for a long period of time and for whatever reason my batt gets to 12v or 11.9 or something, will this radio hold out?

What kind of car do you have this in?

Re: [RESOLVED] Just purchased, wont boot

It's in an 05 Honda Civic.
After checking the voltages. While the car was off I had 12.25V. Ignition in the ON position, 11.95V, and while Ignition in ON while car was running I had 14.2V. Seems the alternator is working fine, but the batt V is low.
The first thing I thought when the radio was doing this was that it looked like some kind of power issue. I then ohm'd out the wiring harness to make sure there was good contact and that was fine. Then I checked my battery. My old radio and everything in my car works fine off of the 11.95V, though I know it shouldn't be this low. My questions remains, Can this Asteroid run on less than 12V, or is there a regulator inside that wont let it run off of less than 12.1V or so? It still wont explain why it doesn't work while the car is on though, at 14V..

Re: [RESOLVED] Just purchased, wont boot

Installed new Yellow Top battery and reinstalled the firmware like I described in the previous posts and my radio is working now! Still need to check the voltages while in the On position to see if it is indeed different from before, but it has been raining and really cold out, so I don't want to stand in that and check it directly off the battery. Will update when I know. Btw, it is def wired red to red, yellow to yellow for this car.

Have been messing around with it pretty heavily and there are many things I will be posting about, (issues, bugs, etc) because there are a lot of different things going on that don't make sense... We will see!

Radio is working now. Seems the update and new battery have solved my issues of getting going. Was very frustrating, and I hope there is no damage to my radio that will shorten the life.
