Topic: Phone Audio w/ front RCA's...

This was Taken from a closed thread...

"Hi,
I confirm: once Parrot ASTEROID launches handsfree mode, all incoming sounds (callers voice, ringtone,...) are sent to the frontspeakers only. This is done to prevent echos and sound issue within the car."

If your device only outputs phone audio through front speakers from the wiring harness, why offer front RCA outputs in the first place? So we either get front amplified speakers for music but no phone, or unamplified front speakers with phone? I didn't know I was going to have to choose between one or the other when purchasing this unit; if I had known, I would have gone a different route!  Seems to me you guys should have thought this out a little bit better before offering the unit.

As a walk around, will it hurt my system if I wire up the rear speakers through the front speaker harness and have my front speakers amplified and receiving audio from the RCA's?

I tried to look for it, but couldn't find where you pulled this. I know I had commented on this thread that your referring to though and I "think" that it does work through the front preouts as well as the connections for the front speakers as the OP of that post pointed out to me after he was able to test it. If you could, please post a link so that we are both clear on this one! big_smile

I actually got my phone to work through bluetooth with an amp hooked up to the front inputs. I connected front speaker wires from the deck to the rear speaker wires on the wiring harness and I have the front speakers going through the amp thats hooked to the front inputs.  Everything works beautifully; I can hear all phone audio perfectly through the rear speakers...

That's crazy that you have to do that!

Once I hook up my amps, and this is the case, the radio will be out of my car in about 10min. If I have a pop, or lack of sound from calls I think I'll be fed up and not be willing to even wait for an update. There hasn't even been an eta on a new update which is discouraging..

Funny story actually...after I rewired everything I noticed the RCA's were plugged into the rear output.  I swapped RCA's and everything works as it should; the phone not coming through the speakers was my mistake, not the Asteroids.

You should not have to rewire the harness as I did; at least I hope you don't! I'm just glad everything works!!
