Topic: New features and enhancements on the way?

Now that ver 1.4.3 has brought stability to the os, are enhancements from the suggestions next? Hope to see added functionality to the menus and additional options. Like I've mentioned before this unit has a lot of potential.

Will there be a pandora app in the future also?

How about a TomTom app that lets you port the navigation app already running from the iPhone? Currently I can get the turn by turn voice to play from the iPhone, why not integrate an app into the os to allow the display from the iPhone to port over to the asteroid screen. That would be nice!

Lastly, one function that still bothers me is that once my phone is in the car and the BT connects, I lose the sounds of my texts messages and email warnings. I would like to still hear when I get a text.

The TomTom app would probably be made by another company as an app.

I like google maps personally, and would like to see the updated version of it with turn by turn and all the great updated features currently in google maps and not on the version in the Asteroid.

I saw a Navigon app running on Asteroid on YouTube but the video is German and I couldn't understand anything.  I would like to see the following...

1.  Faster boot times.  This is so annoying I could scream.  Why can't the unit just go to sleep?
2.  Remember what I was listening to last when the unit powers on.
3.  Clock when listening to iPod/iPhone music.
4.  Get rid of the big blank box when listening to bluetooth music and use the space for a clock since it can't display artwork anyway.
5.  Use the ringtone from my phone.  I don't need to listen to 2 ringtones when a call comes in.
6.  The prominently displayed voice button does nothing if you only have individual songs.  Wouldn't it have been better to make that the call button?
7.  Improve the sound quality.  Even with Super Bass on, I only get half the bass I did with my Clarion.
8.  Volume control needs to be faster.  It takes a long time to turn up the volume.

Agreed to all....but #7 seems ok with me

Agreed, the sound quality doesn't seem to be a weak point on this headunit. That and Bluetooth calling is quite excellent. They just need fix up the menu layout and tweak the GUI a bit. But it would be nice to see turn by turn navigation added first and foremost.

I still use my phone for GPS as it is better than the Asteroid because it's the updated version of Google Maps.. I have tried all of the other apps, and due to the way you need to open them and not having a "notification" style menu, it is so cumbersome to switch to the other apps. It makes me not want to use them..

I've come to the conclusion that this HU will be used primarily for radio/hands free telephony.  The current apps to me are worthless.  As you say, my android phone's nav program is much better than I can expect from any app they can put on the asteroid and it has a bigger screen.  About the only improvement I can see of any value is to be able to add some indication of the title/artist/cover for my phone MP3, like apparently is available if I had an Iphone.
