Topic: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Hi, is it possible to downgrade the MKi9200?  Since updating to v. 2.0 nothing works right, it's practically unusable.  I can't answer incoming calls, bad echo in conversations.  mp3 playback on SD hasn't worked right since a few version back.  Do you guys not test this first?

It's a shame, I've always bragged about my MKi and recommended it to many people.  Now it seems all I do is curse it.

Hi All,

we are surprised by your post. Being a major software update, MKi software update 2.0 was extensively tested and we only released it once we were satisfied with its quality.
Before downgrading your unit, could you specify your configuration so we could test it on our own as well?

-Which phone brand, model and ROM version do you pair to your MKi9200?
-What happens when you try to answer incoming calls: an error messages?
-You are not the firs customer mentionned echos in conversations. Could you specify if this happens in every conversation?
-Which issues are you witnessing with MP3 playback on SD Cards?

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

By following the advise of another forum member I was able to fix these problems by disabling Magic Words.  I can now answer incoming calls and my wife said there was no echo (at time of writing I didn't check the mp3/SD problem).

Thanks for the quick reply, and I hope my answers can help fix the problems.

iPhone 4s iOS 5.0.1

-What happens when you try to answer incoming calls: an error messages?

It doesn't answer with the green button and if I answer with the iPhone it will mute the radio but will not allow me to communicate through Bluetooth. I have to use the phone. The display will show caller info. When I'm done with my call and hang up the phone the MKi9200 will not unmute the call and still shows the caller info, I have to unplug the display to reboot the system.

All outgoing (as I can't answer incoming wink ) calls have an echo.  The echo i only heard at the other end, I don't hear the echo.

-Which issues are you witnessing with MP3 playback on SD Cards?

What happens with mp3 playback is that when I start the car it will play the rest of the song that was playing, but then it will not play the next one...it just hangs in silence.  I have to press the Play/Pause button to return to radio then press the play/pause button again to return to mp3 then it will play the rest fine.  Also the song timer will not countdown right, if the song is for example 3:01 minutes long, the countdown timer will show 3:01, 2:59, 3:00, 3:01, 2:59...etc...no matter where it is in the song.

Hope this helps,

SirReal

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

I am having the same types of problems as SirReal since upgrading to 2.0.

I have reset to factory defaults, re-done the firmware upgrade, and deleted and re-added my phone. I still have bad problems.

1. I Cannot answer incoming calls anymore with the buttons to remote control the kit.

The call is answered, but the kit freezes. The Parrot will re-boot itself. EVERY TIME

If I answer the call by answering on the phone, I cannot direct the call to the Parrot, it will only stay on the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 4 with the latest iOS 5.0.1

The kit is pretty much worthless as a hands free kit for incoming calls with the 2.0 software update.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Have you tried disabling the use "magic words" option in the telephone menu.
I was having the same issues, and disabling them now allows me to answer the incoming calls with the green button no problem.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

After further reading ... I disabled the Magic Words and now I can answer incoming calls again. So until Parrot Fixes it, that worked for me.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

I wanted to add that I too have the same problem with my iPhone after updating to 2.0
I thought there was a problem with my remote when I could not answer any calls but luckily I found this thread. I did not try disabling magic words yet, but I will try and post back.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

I upgrade to 2.00 and have an issue with incoming calls, when I try to answear (any method voice or green botom) it start the call but I can't ear any thing the other party says that can't ear to, I have to take my iphone out off my pocket and recover the call from the phone, may be Parrot can take a moment to re-check this version. By the way the dual mode works great my only concern is the sync, cause it sync every time I switch phones. May be you can see my other post about sync "feature request"

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Does this 2.01 release fix the issue with Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) issues?  The system is basically unusable with the upgrade as well.  When ever I receive a text message I am prompted with

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

FINALLY...someone else mentioning issues with the windows phone.

Your post is cut off after I am prompted with....  But Im guessing its who do you want to call from the Parrot kit.

I HATE...HATE...that I can not utilize the voice search, or text to speech/speech to text when the phone is connected to the parrot kit.  It also really irrirates me that every sound the phone makes is transmitted.  Like when a text comes through.  But that seems more like an issue with the windows phone.

But the fact that when I want to have a text read to me...or use my voice to send a text, the parrot kit keeps asking me who i want to call really is a downer.

I hope they can get something together for that soon!

I emailed them, and they did get back to me saying there was a ticket for that problem...but I dont know if they've made any progress.

J.

P.S...it appears if you use quotes, your post gets cut off...

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

I too have the echo problem once I upgraded to 2.0. There was a fix (so they tell me) in 2.01 but I still have the echo issue. This is really disappointing as it defeats the main purpose of the product...PHONE CALLS!. I just got customer support to send me a link to 1.96. I will downgrade and hope it is fixed.

Disabling magic words is not a fix in my mind. Its a workaround. I like being able to just say accept or reject to answer calls.

My iphone 3Gs, if NOT set to vibrate, and I am playing music through Bluetooth, will make the text incoming/outgoing sounds through the speakers. This is annoying.

UPDATE: Turning off magic words on 2.01 fixed the echo. I did not like this option, so I downgraded to 1.96. This version, magic words works AND no echo.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

ghettocruiser - I did not realize my post cut off when i initially wrote it, but yes I am having all sorts of issues with my system since upgrading to version 2.0.  I have since upgraded to version 2.2 and I am still be prompted with who would you like to call, when I receive an incoming text message.

I previously spoke with a Parrot technitian, and at that time he indicated that this is a know issue with the Mango release of Windows Phone, actually discovered during testing but never addressed.  I am hoping that in the near future these issues are addressed, the iPhone is not the only platform out there.

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

I have recently upgraded to 2.02 and have all the problems SirReal mentioned (good at least to hear I am not the only one!).

My problems are as follows:

* cannot make a call from phone book (after choosing a number, Parrot freezes and nothing happens on the phone side); I can only make phone calls using voice dial on my phone or selecting number from the phone's phonebook;

* when two phones are connected (two iPhones 4), one of them gets disconnected from time to time;

* cannot answer an incoming call via my Parrot - the system simply fails to react (I can see someone is calling on the screen, the system keeps ringing (even after I pick up the call with my iPhone) but no reaction to pushing the green button; finally, the system freezes).

Please note that since upgrading, I have already:

* deleted all connected phones and paired them again;

* I did a factory reset and them upgraded the system once again and one again paired my phones;

* I disabled the Magic Word option;

- none of these helped!

So my Parrot became simply not usable... Any clue on how to solve the problem?

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

As with BDSawicki, after the 2.02 update,  I had the following problems:

- cannot make a call from phone book as the parrot freezes after i choose a letter.
- at the beginning, i couldn't answer incoming calls via my Parrot remote as it totally froze and muted my car radio and i had to answer through my phone directly, and after i hund up, the parrot would still be frozen and my car radio muted, but i tried the magic word "accept" instead of the remote and everything worked fine.
- when i tried to upload contact pictures from my 2 phones (HTC HD 2 running WM 6.5 and BB Bold 9780), it kept on giving me "synchronization failed"
I would appreciate any help

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Guys,

if you encounter problems with firmware 2.02, please report them to Tech support - folks there are telling me they have not heard about any issues as described by me.

Thanks

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Dear customers,

as more of you are currently mentionning issues, we would like to ask: have you made a full memory reset on the MKi Unit? We believe the latests software updates might be needing for a reset.

To do so, you need to go into "Settings" then "Advanced settings" then "Factory Settings".

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

Confirmed - I did the factory reset, then updated firmware and re-paired my iPhones, but it DID NOT HELP (unfortunately).

Re: Can I downgrade MKi9200?

parrot_support_US I have factory reset my devise, I have also pulled my phones SIM Card, removed the MKI bluetooth connection, and reset my phone.  With each method, the MKI system does not work with my phone.  I am currently forced to downgrade my system to release 1.66.

Please correct these problems
