Topic: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

MKi9000, firmware 2.02
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1
Already tried factory resets on both MKi9000 and iPhone.

When I start my car, I hear my radio first, then it cuts out to the Parrot jingle. At that point, I hit the jog wheel to select bluetooth audio. If I'm very lucky, I hear my iPhone music and can usually control the tracks with the Parrot button controller. This is how I think the Parrot MKi9000 is supposed to work.

Recently, I have not been lucky. Instead, when I click the bluetooth option, I hear a click, silent pause, and then my radio resumes playing. No music from my phone.

I have found two workarounds to get the streaming going.
1) Dig in my pocket, find my iPhone, unlock it, open the music app, hit play. If I do this, the music streams fine, but my MKi controller is basically useless. I can pause and resume the song, and adjust volume. But I cannot skip, go back, fast forward, fast rewind. And if the song is at the end of my playlist, the music dies after it ends.

2) Dig in my pocket, find my iPhone, unlock it, open the settings, unpair from the MKi9000, repair to MKi9000. Now my MKi controller is very useful. All of the buttons do something. However, the next time my car starts, the MKi9000 will have forgotten how it paired with my phone, and I am back to the beginning.

How can I make it work more normally?

And to Parrot, why can't you make the MKi9000 remember the last used setting before it shut off? I only use the bluetooth option, and I have to manually select bluetooth every time I get in the car. This seems like a really easy fix- why isn't it in as of 2.02? (I started with 1.95)

Bump! ^

I have exactly the same problem! Nice to see I am not alone, I either do that or turn the ignition off and back on. (I have a feeling that it is something to do with the Bluetooth on the iPhone "sleeping") but I'm no expert..

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

I'm also experiencing the same problem. I can't recall if this started happening after I upgraded my IOS to 5.1 or when I performed my last Parrot upgrade. Nonetheless, it is extremely frustrating and annoying. In addition to fixing this, a bunch of us have also been requesting Parrot to allow the "play" button to initiate bluetooth streaming instead of having to navigate through the menus.

PARROT - Do you have a release planned for the near future to address these concerns?

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

Issues like this tend to be related to the iPhone itself.  If I get things like this going on my first order of business is to reboot the iPhone.

Press and hold the top button and front button down together.  Wait for the silver apple logo to show up.

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

Has anyone had luck resolving this problem? I tried the following with no luck

1) Delete and repair the phone (this initially fixes the problem for the current day, but then the issue reappears the next day)
2) Factory reset of the Parrot
3) Iphone reboot

While it's bad enough that we have to navigate through multiple windows to initiate bluetooth streaming, it's really annoying when you have to fish out your phone to get music playing.

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

It seems weird with both the docking connector and the bluetooth hooked up at the same time.   Is this an Apple bug?  I'm not completely sure, but sometimes maybe if I select music from the iPhone menu that it tries playing on bluetooth on the phone?    Could the Parrot be updated to check for audio on either bluetooth or the docking connector and play the one it finds active?  I think this would eliminate a lot of the 'flakey feel' of the device.

With Bluetooth disabled and the docking connector used alone, for me it works perfect.

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

I have the "exact" same issue, but with a iPhone 5 running iOS 6. It worked perfectly on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1. Does anyone with a iPhone 4S or 5 have their MKi working flawlessly via bluetooth without having to re-pair it each time for the remote control to work?

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

This happened to me today too. In the morning BT streaming worked just fine. Then I read somewhere that if you disable the iPhone syncing of contacts, you should be able to get Siri to work (I have an iPhone 4 right now but awaiting an iPhone 5). After disabling sync on the iPhone, I erased the Parrot MKi9000 memory and re-paired. When I clicked the green button on the remote, I got the iPhone voice-control instead of the Parrot phone book, which I took to mean that Siri should work when I received my iPhone 5 later on.

But after that, AD2P doesn't work. Everything else works; the Parrot voice prompts work and I can even listen to iPhone voice mail through BT. The Parrot remote works to skip tracks, pause, resume play, etc. I just don't get any streaming sound.

I tried all combinations of memory erase, have the iPhone "forget" Parrot and re-pair, reboot the phone, and upgrade to firmware 2.11. Nothing works. Or, rather, everything works except for BT audio. And it worked just fine and reliably this morning.

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

I also exactly got this solution like have been posted before above there,
Remove and fix the mobile cellphone (this originally repairs the issue for the present day, but then the issue returns the next day)
Factory totally reset of the Parrot
iPhone reboot..
I couldn't make it i don't know why...
is there something else somebody can tell me about it because I'm not only the person whose having this problem so...

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

I can no longer stream via Bluetooth since I updated to iOS6. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

Today I purchased an MKI9000 and I too have the same problem with having no control of music from my iPhone 5 through the Parrot control unit. It really is quite frustrating and ultimately defeats the purpose of buying hands free Bluetooth music streaming considering it doesn't even work. Any Ideas?

Re: iPhone bluetooth streaming doesn't always work

Same problem here.  What I can add is that I used to have an 3GS and all the remote function works flawlessly.  iPhone 5 and iOS 6 screws everything up.

one "Workaround": instead of dig into pocket, unlock phone, and stuff, I press the green call button, then ask siri to resume music. or play whatever music I want it to play.

And as far as I've read this seems to be an iOS problem and how it's implementing some new bluetooth stuff without making sure it's backward compatible.  But then again, Parrot can be THE man to update their software to keep things flowing.
