My unit, running 1.6.1, does not always power down with the "Good Bye" message either. I've swapped the Yellow (Batt) and Red (ACC) wires back and forth to no avail. When the wires are swapped(red to yellow and yellow to red), the unit does not power up. When the wires are normal/default (red to red, yellow to yellow), I get some odd behavior:
Sometimes I have to wait about 20 seconds for it to boot (when starting the car) while other times it seems to resume right to the same source or menu, just paused.
The power to the unit also stays on for about 3 seconds after the car is off. This suggests to me the wires DO need to be swapped. However, swapped does not work, won't boot, blows fuse.
All of which makes me very nervous about the longevity of the unit. Seems like I'm powering down/up the unit incorrectly quite often.
I think I may pull the unit and redo the wiring, checking for the volts on yellow and red to be 12 and not 11.x. I would almost think it have been wise for them to put a replaceable battery on the back of the unit like seen on modern phones. The battery could persist a state in "off" mode and always draw a charge from the battery.
